Attorney of the Year Badge

Monday, June 8 2009

about the luncheon

This year’s luncheon takes on a special purpose. We are honoring two outstanding legal professionals and supporting a great cause. Carolyn B. Lamm, President-Elect of the ABA, and Jack H. Olender will receive the “Good Scout Award,” given to legal professionals who have made extraordinary contributions to our communities and who practice law with the same high ethical standards we hope to instill in our children. The luncheon will also help support two ground-breaking programs of the Boy Scouts of America National Capital Area Council, Learning for Life and Scoutreach.

Community Programs

What is the Learning for Life Program?

Learning for Life supports schools and community-based organizations in their efforts to prepare disadvantaged youth to manage the complexities of today’s world by enhancing their self-confidence, motivation, and self-esteem. Through character development and career education, Learning for Life helps youth develop social and life skills as well as positive personal values. It prepares youth to make the ethical decisions that will help them achieve their full potential. Currently, the program serves nearly 1.5 million youth across America.

What is the Scoutreach Program?

Scoutreach helps give young people from urban and rural areas the opportunity to experience the benefits of Scouting, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.

How can I support these important programs?

Even $100 will make a difference in the life of a child! Each $250 we raise will be enough to enroll one child in the program for one year. $204 of that will sponsor the child and only $46 will go to paying for the venue and the luncheon. All marketing, outreach, fundraising, planning, and printing has been donated by our volunteers.
